Plays and Players Theatre
Plays & Players, a historic theatre over 100 years old, holds three performance venues, a rotating gallery, and our members-only Quig's Pub. The crown jewel is our 298-seat Main Stage, showcasing intricate plasterwork and gorgeous early 20th-century mural works. Our intimate black-box Skinner Studio is on the 3rd floor with 55 seats. Finally, our Quig's cabaret stage is fit for our coziest performances right in the pub. As many companies call us home annually, it's impossible to list all of them here. Some recurring events include Norman David and the Eleventet's $10 monthly Monday night jazz, Caked-Up Comedy's $5 Stand-up Showcase on the first Tuesday of the month, and Your Sunday Best monthly on Sundays (that one's free)! On the main stage, you'll find local theatre companies such as 1812 Productions, Irish Theatre Company, and touring shows. The Skinner Studio is regularly home to many independent artists, local improv troops, stand-up comedians, and small theatre companies. Our company also produces staged readings in the fall and winter, a full production typically in April and a variety of community social engagements. Our members curate our gallery in the fall, winter, and spring, showcasing local Philadelphian Artists. Unfortunately, as a historic venue, we are not wheelchair accessible. All floors are only accessible by stairs.
